Confession was released on the great day of September 20th, 2003. In only 6 months, Chavarri and Machado formed a new band and felt ready enough to restart their music career under the name "Ill Niño". Realizing the new songs had a much more "melodic Latin flavor", Machado brought Marc Rizzo, and started to fuck shit up. When Chavarri returned, Machado have him their mixtape. Dave heard that shit and went back to christian faster than Russell brand when he developed that drug addiction (horrible execution, im sorry). They went with a much more melodic sound that had latin influences. After the break up, Christian decided to stop being a little bitch and start working on music again. im not sure about the other guys though they probably just jumped the border back into mexico or some shit. Dave peaced out right after the break up, and went to go play drums for soulfly. in 1999, they told jorge and marc to fuck off, and then they pretty much broke up for a little, then got back together (like a typical high school couple. I really dont know what they did for a year, besides play like 6 shows aaaand give eachother reach-arounds. The band origianlly started out in 1998 with the lineup as follows: Dave Chavarri, Jorge Rosado, Christian Machado, and Mark Rizzo. They enjoyed Soundwave and were disappointed it’s gone for good, but they are excited they can return to Australia regardless. Last time Ill Niño was in Australia, it was to play the Soundwave festival in 2014 they were later signed-on to play in 2016 before it got cancelled. “I felt like the parts he played, I had to play good, but I was also an established musician so everything I added to the band was unique.” “It was a challenge to learn a new style of guitar and took hours of practice to learn parts Marc Rizzo had written.” “I was always a fan of a metal with a groove to it, but I’ve also been interested in flamenco guitar and music from South America,” Ahrue says. Marc Rizzo was the guitarist proceeding Ahrue, well-known for his distinctive sytle, which expanded with his solo work and for Soulfly.
“As we were deciding what band to bring, I suggested Ill Niño, everyone thought it was a great idea and we took them to Europe.”īecause of the close relationship from touring together, it was a no-brainer for Ill Niño drummer Dave Chavarri to give Ahrue a call-up after he left Machine Head. “Every year Machine Head does a big European tour and likes to bring an up and coming band as the main support,” Ahrue says. He was familiar with the band before joining, having scouted them for support slots for Machine Head, during the Road Rage tour in the United States. “It was a record that withstood the test of time, people still love it and it gets a lot of play… we just had our most successful European tour in about a decade,” Ahrue says.Īhrue joined the band after leaving Machine Head in 2002, recording on every Ill Niño album starting from Confession.
